Stopped by S&W Diesel yesterday to take some measurements for a drip pan, and to see how things were progressing.

Mr. Perkins is just about ready.  Today they will finish the assembly, and I will go back to watch the test run on the Dyno.  After that they re-torque the head, give everything a final going over, and it's ours (plus an exchange of a large sum of money of course).

    The Perk look awesome. When is it going back in? We are back in Central FL. I think we are heading over to Coconuts for a cold beer.

      Thanks Gremms.

      Still alot of engine room rebuilding to be done, but we hope to be up and running by early July.

      Coconuts, yea, what a scene, summer shenanigans should be full throttle by now. Don't forget about the Beach Shack, you gotta get in and say hello to Chrissy, Jen, Dewey, and Moon for us, and crush a few Busch cans while your there.

      Where do you guys keep the Hammer? I thought you were down in the keys. We are planning to be back for a final visit towards the end of August. Would love to pay a visit if your near by.

    Currently we are up in Titusville, but hoping to be headed on up to St. Augustine by the end of the month. We would love to hear from you if you are up this way.

Day 5 : 2/19/16 San Quintín to Bahia de Tortugas Pulled anchor in San Quintín at 6:30am. It's another cloudy overcast day. Wind is projected to pick up between 10am and 1 pm. Waves and wind are out of the Northwest so it should be a smooth sail. If I could only convince Scooby of this. At least all I have to do is say the word "bird" and he instantly jumps out of his bed to search and bark at birds. Confidence boost. I  mistakenly  bought decaf instant coffee at Costco. Whoops.... Thankfully I bought a large tub of whole coffee beans from Trader Joe's on one of our many trips to San Diego for parts. We grounded the coffee beans by hand to conserve the batteries. Breakfast is hot cereal with almond milk accompanied with lots of coffee. I would have preferred bacon and eggs but hot cereal is just too easy make. By 9:30 am we put up the main and genoa sails and were motor sailing along at 7 knots. At 10:50am we turned the motor off and raised the staysail sailing at 5...

March 17, 2012  Today we were towed over to the next marina by Eddie’s Marine Service headed up by Lupe, his brodder Chon, and a friendly crew of mexicanos, side tied along their dock and hoisted out our engine with their crane.  hey Lupe, pull my diesel... Preceding the pull was the disconnecting of all the engine components, hoses, shaft and wiring, all the binnacle mounted electronics and the binnacle, and breaking loose of the cockpit hatch for the engine to come out through. prop shaft went smooth deep breath in, and hold.... starting on the binnacle Fein Multimaster-if you have the means, I highly recommend you pick one up.  They're so choice Next day was the tow to Lupe's.                                                               ...

Memory foam dreams

Officially living aboard now. One of the first projects was to reshape two memory foam mattresses to our aft cabin bunk, a pilot berth and the settee berth. Our main motivation is the existing berth in the master cabin is horribly uncomfortable for two of us to sleep on. Our other motivation is to empty and get rid of the U Haul trailer. did I mention driving cross country with a trailer blows? 2 memory foam mattresses we schlepped across 8 states – just under $4,000 Plus: 1 electric turkey knife we bought during one of our stops during the drive - $19 Equals: 4 memory foam berths aboard. So, here goes, watched a couple how to vids on You Tube, fire up the turkey slicer, and tear into 4 grand worth of bedding. first victim next and aboard Ahhhhhh. So nice.
